Shhhhhhhh!!!!

On our last day in Rome we wound up visiting the Sistine Chapel.  And, even though I hate going to church (and hate art museums), it was actually one of the best parts of our trip so far.  Seeing the interior of the chapel was one of the most amazing things I have ever witnessed in my life.

The detailed artwork on the walls and ceilings was gorgeous.  The ceiling painted by Michaelangelo was not exactly what I had pictured, but jaw-dropping nonetheless.  The entire chapel was adorned with artwork frescoes and paintings from floor to ceiling.  It was art overload!

There were 2 rules going into the chapel.
                     1.)  No talking
                     2.)  No pictures

These people were certainly not afraid to enforce rule #1.  Shhhhhh!  Shhhhhhh!  Shhhhhh!  Of course, when you usher hundreds of people through a small chapel room, noise happens!  It was not hard for me to be quiet, but I could not resist taking a picture of the ceiling!!!  So I managed to sneak this photo of the magnificent Sistine Chapel ceiling.

Who knew it would be under construction??? (haha)
